Ryanair officially the 4th largest airline in the world

Despite all the recent negative news about Ryanair and its pilot crisis, the Irish low-cost carrier (LCC) has been officially announced that it is the 4th largest airline in the world.

According to the new statistics published by IATA (International air transport association), Global carriers carried 3.8 Billion passengers last year. Ryanair carried over 117 million passengers last year. This is a 7% increase compared to 2015.

The largest was American low-cost carrier ‘Southwest airlines’ who carried 151.8 million passengers.

The report from IATA shows that the Asia-Pacific region carried the largest number of passengers, 1.3 billion. This is 35% of the global figure.
