Loganair (LM/LOG)has become the first UK regional airline to deploy OpenAirlines’ SkyBreathe fuel efficiency platform, marking another milestone in the carrier’s long-term strategy to reduce emissions and improve operational performance.
The Glasgow-based airline, which serves more than 70 routes across the UK and Europe, has confirmed that the software is now live across its operations. Developed by OpenAirlines, SkyBreathe uses artificial intelligence, advanced algorithms and big data analytics to analyse flight operations and identify opportunities to reduce fuel consumption.
The technology is already used by more than 80 airlines worldwide, including Air France, Norwegian and Korean Air, helping operators translate operational data into practical fuel-saving measures for flight crews and ground teams.
Loganair says the move supports its ongoing commitment to making regional aviation more environmentally responsible while maintaining vital connectivity for communities across Scotland and the wider UK.

In addition to providing fuel-saving recommendations, Loganair will also join the wider SkyBreathe community, allowing it to share best practice and benefit from the experiences of airlines around the world already using the platform.
Alexandre Feray, Chief Executive Officer of OpenAirlines, welcomed the partnership, highlighting the potential environmental benefits of data-driven flight operations.

The adoption of SkyBreathe forms part of Loganair’s broader sustainability agenda. In 2021, the airline launched its GreenSkies environmental programme, setting out ambitions to reduce emissions, invest in next-generation aircraft and achieve net zero operations by 2040.
Alongside its operational initiatives, the carrier also runs the GreenSkies Community Fund, which provides support to charities, community organisations and small businesses pursuing their own sustainability projects.
As airlines across Europe continue to seek practical ways to cut fuel burn and emissions, digital optimisation platforms such as SkyBreathe are becoming an increasingly important tool in improving efficiency while reducing environmental impact.
