International Airlines Group (IAG), which owns British Airways, has called for the creation and use of Digital Health Passes in order to reopen the skies.
The boss of IAG, Luis Gallego said that there needed to be a clear roadmap for easing travel restrictions and that included “international common testing standards and introduction of digital health passes to reopen our skies”
IAG, which also owns Aer Lingus, Iberia and Vueling, posted an operating loss of £6.5bn from the 2020 financial due to almost total grounding of the airlines passenger operations because of the Coronavirus Pandemic.
Uncertainty going forward meant the group could not make any predictions about profits in 2021.
The groups airlines have had to find ways to save costs including reducing fleets and in many cases, large numbers of staff being laid off.
