Dubai based Emirates has revealed a striking new special livery featuring a giant UAE flag across one of its Airbus A380 aircraft, in a tribute to the nation’s unity, ambition and resilience.

The new design, applied to Airbus A380 A6-EVG, extends the carrier’s iconic tail fin artwork across the fuselage in what the airline described as a bold display of national pride. The livery forms part of Emirates’ “This Flag Will Always Fly” campaign, launched in support of a nationwide initiative introduced by Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum encouraging citizens and residents to raise the UAE flag as a symbol of solidarity and cohesion.

Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman and Chief Executive of Emirates airline and Group, said the airline was proud to answer the call to celebrate the nation’s strength and unity.

“We’re proud to respond to HH Sheikh Mohammad’s call to raise the flag as a tribute to the UAE’s unity and strength,” he said.

“Since our inception, every Emirates aircraft has proudly carried the UAE flag wherever it flies. This new livery is our way of honouring a home that has given us so much, and a nation that stands as proof of what is possible when we collectively choose, every day, to reach higher.”

The special scheme features the red, green, white and black colours of the UAE in a sweeping three-dimensional design stretching across both sides of the double-deck aircraft. Emirates said the aircraft has already operated flights to New York City and Brisbane, with further Airbus A380 destinations expected to see the aircraft in the coming months.

The airline also confirmed plans are underway to introduce the same flag-inspired livery on a Boeing 777, which would become the second aircraft type in the fleet to carry the design.

The UAE flag has long been a prominent feature of the Emirates fleet, appearing on the tail fins of all aircraft operated by the Dubai-based carrier. The airline has previously introduced several commemorative liveries marking key national events and milestones.

In 2017, Emirates unveiled a special Airbus A380 livery featuring a portrait of Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan to mark the “Year of Zayed”, with 10 aircraft eventually carrying the design. The same year also saw the launch of a series of liveries promoting Expo 2020 Dubai, with 40 aircraft painted in dedicated schemes.
