British Airways has announced a new codeshare agreement with Mexican low-cost carrier Viva, expanding travel options between the UK, Europe and destinations across Mexico.
The partnership will allow British Airways customers to book connecting journeys to 13 destinations across Mexico served by Viva, including Guadalajara, Monterrey and Puerto Vallarta, through the airline’s existing services via Mexico City (MEX) and Cancún (CUN) to London.
Under the agreement, the 13 Viva destinations will be available under British Airways flight codes through ba.com, allowing customers to book their entire journey in a single transaction. Members of The British Airways Club will also be able to collect Avios and tier points when travelling on eligible codeshare services.
The agreement is designed to improve connectivity for passengers travelling from London and across Europe to destinations throughout Mexico. Equally, passengers departing from Mexican cities served by Viva will gain access to British Airways’ wider international network, connecting through London to more than 200 destinations worldwide.
Neil Chernoff, Chief Planning and Strategy Officer at British Airways, said: “We’re excited to launch our new codeshare partnership with Viva, opening up more of Mexico to our customers and providing greater choice when planning their journeys. Mexico has been an important part of our network for over 60 years, and this agreement marks a new moment in that long history. By bringing together Viva’s extensive domestic network with British Airways’ global connectivity, we’re making it easier for customers to travel between Mexico, London and destinations across our wider network.”
Javier Suarez, Executive Vice President and Chief Planning and Alliances Officer at Viva, added: “We are excited about this new partnership with British Airways. Connecting British Airways’ services with our network from Mexico City and Cancún will allow their customers to seamlessly reach many more destinations across Mexico. Likewise, passengers from cities across our network will be able to connect through Mexico City or Cancún and board a British Airways flight to Europe and beyond, all with the convenience of a single ticket.”
Viva, which has carried more than 180 million passengers during its 20-year history, operates a fleet of 110 Airbus A320 and A321 aircraft. The airline serves more than 60 destinations across Mexico, the United States, Colombia, Costa Rica and Cuba.
The carrier operates as a low-cost airline, offering its ‘Flex-SÍ-bility’ options, which give passengers greater control over their bookings, including the ability to change flights and modify or transfer tickets.
Codeshare flights under the new agreement are available to book now through ba.com, with travel commencing from 28th of March 2027.
