Unite has called off strikes at Bournemouth Airport (BOH/EGHH) that were due to start tomorrow after receiving a new pay offer from the airport.
With over 100 workers due to walk out, the industrial action and as this included baggage handling, flight dispatching, check-in staff and the fire service it would have effectively closed the airport causing flight cancellations and misery for holidaymakers.
Unite regional co-ordinating officer Matt Tipper said: “Following negotiations between Unite and Bournemouth Airport, the employer has come back with an improved pay offer.”
“Strike action has been suspended while our members will be balloted on this offer over the coming days.”
In an operate statement Bournemouth Airport said that it would now be fully operational on the 5th to 7th September and on the 14th September saying passengers should check in as normal.
