Boeing workers to strike after rejecting 25% payrise

Just days after Boeing confirmed their next new aircraft will be built in Washington State, staff at their Washington plants have voted to reject the contract offer and begun to strike.

Members of the International Association of Machinists (IAM) District 751, which has about 33,000 members at Boeing say that Boeing needs to offer more improved terms following its latest offer which included a 25% payrise.

Workers and local unions criticised the IAM for settling for too little after the IAM described the offer as the best they have ever negotiated.

Industrial action on the production like could causee further delivery delays for Boeing and potentially damage the companies credit status.

Boeing has said it is ready to talk to unions in order end the stand off.
