Boeing has asked for eight of its Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft, which are in use with airlines, to be pulled out of service due to a manufacturing problem it has discovered.
The Seattle-based airframer has not disclosed the exact nature of the problem but it is understood to be two issues with the manufacturing process which affect certain 787 fuselage sections.
Boeing notified the affected airlines earlier this week which include United, Singapore Airlines and Air Canada.
Singapore Airlines is the only airline to confirm that one of its Boeing 787-10 models is affected and in a statement to Reuters said: “The aircraft is not in service and we will work closely with Boeing on a solution”.
The aircraft in question will remain grounded until a solution is found.
