Dublin based ACIA Aero Leasing has completed a sale and leaseback transaction for two ATR72-600 passenger aircraft operated by Braathens Regional Airlines, further strengthening the lessor’s regional turboprop portfolio and its relationship with the Scandinavian carrier.
The aircraft, bearing manufacturer serial numbers 1348 and 1357, are currently deployed on regional routes across Sweden and Northern Europe on behalf of SAS.
The agreement increases ACIA’s leased fleet with Braathens to three aircraft and takes the company’s total ATR fleet to 38 aircraft, underlining continued demand for regional turboprop operations in the Nordic market.
Braathens operates an extensive domestic and regional network, providing feeder and connectivity services for SAS across Scandinavia and neighbouring markets.
Mick Mooney, Chief Executive Officer of ACIA, said the transaction reflected the lessor’s ongoing support for Braathens as the airline continues its business transformation.
“We are delighted to strengthen our relationship with Braathens through this SLB transaction on two ATR 72-600s,” he said.
“The transaction further demonstrates our support for Braathens as they continue to transform their business.”
Mia Jakobsson, Head of Fleet Management & PMO at Braathens, said the agreement highlighted the close cooperation between the two companies.

Sale and leaseback transactions remain a common financing tool within the regional aviation sector, allowing airlines to release capital tied up in aircraft ownership while maintaining operational flexibility.
