Guyanan start-up Xen Aviation & Services (Xen Aviation) has signed a deal that will see it acquire a Britten-Norman BN2T-4S Islander aircraft for its regional connectivity network.
Based out of Georgetown, Guyana, Xen Aviation offers a domestic network across the region which is often remote areas in dense rainforests.
Ronaldo Alphonso at Xen Aviation said: “We believe this variant of the Islander is a perfect fit for our mission to introduce superior safety, comfort and choice to the Guyana aviation market, targeting everyday commuters, government and international business operators, all at a competitive price.”
The UK made aircraft is an enlarged turboprop variant of the piston engined BN2 Islander which has a 30% larger interior and increased maximum take-off weight over just over 4 tonnes.
It’s two Rolls-Royce 250 B17F engines both produce 460hp giving it a range of over 1,000nm when configured with up to 12 seats.
The BN2T-4S is also IFR equipped allowing to fly in low-visibility.
