Türkiye’s flag carrier Turkish Airlines has placed an order with Boeing for up to 75 Boeing 787 Dreamliners to aid its ambitious growth plans.
The order consists of firm orders for a mix of Boeing 787-9 and 787-10 aircraft with a further 25 options with the airline currently negotiating with Rolls-Royce and General Electric with regards to which power-plant option they will be fitted with.
Much like Türkiye itself, Turkish Airlines has an ambitious growth strategy which already sees it fly to more countries than any other airline.
Speaking about this new order, Turkish Airlines Chairman of the Board and the Executive Committee, Prof. Ahmet Bolat stated: “This landmark agreement represents much more than a fleet growth. It is a reflection of our leadership in the industry as well as our dedication to innovation and operational excellence. The addition of these advanced Boeing aircraft to our fleet will not only enhance our operational capabilities but also become a significant element supporting Turkish Airlines’ 2033 Vision of expanding our fleet to 800 aircraft.
With this agreement, while advancing our close collaboration with the world’s leading aircraft manufacturers, we will continue to support the development of Türkiye’s aviation ecosystem. Moreover, by offering greater connectivity and more long-haul destinations, these aircraft will help attract more visitors to discover our country’s unique cultural heritage and natural beauty, thereby further strengthening Türkiye’s tourism sector. Turkish Airlines, with its unparalleled service approach and unrivalled flight network, will also continue to set the global benchmark in both efficiency and environmental responsibility.”
Turkish Airlines also revealed it has completed negotiations with Boeing for an order of up to 150 Boeing 737 Max single-aisle airliners. 100 of which will be a firm order with 50 options. They are expected to the the -8 and -10 variants. This order is subject to the outcome of negotiations with CFM regarding the power plant for the type.

Turkish Airlines plans to expand its fleet beyond 800 by 2033 under its “Vision 2033” plan, this coincides with its 100th anniversary. As part of this plan, the airline aims to have over 90% of its fleet as Next Generation aircraft by 2033, and 100% by 2035.
The new 787 Dreamliners joining the fleet with strengthen Turkish Airlines’ long-haul capability while it will look to the 737 Max airliners to enhance efficiency and flexibility on shorter routes.
