Skybus, the airline of the Isles of Scilly Steambus Group, has welcomed a new Dehavilland DHC6-300 Twin Otter to its fleet, its first new aircraft in a decade.
The aircraft arrived at Lands End Airport yesterday following a 4,000-mile delivery journey from Canada and represents the group’s strategy of investment in all areas of its business.
Jonathan Hinkles, Managing Director of Skybus, said: “This is an important and exciting milestone for Skybus. Adding a new aircraft not only reinforces our ability to deliver reliable regional air services but also demonstrates our confidence in the long-term future of aviation within the Group – which is excellent news for the communities we serve.”

DHC6 Twin Otters have been operating to and from the Isles of Scilly for over 30 years, but this new aircraft brings a wealth of upgrades and safety features to the fleet, such as Garmin 600 glass displays on the flight deck.
As previously reported, the new aircraft will operate between Alderney and Guernsey in the Channel Islands and onward to Southampton under a multi-year agreement with Aurigny Air Services.
The aircraft will also play a vital role in providing air ambulance, mail, freight and pet travel to and from Alderney.
