The airline of the Isles of Scilly Steamship Group, Skybus, has entered into a contract to provide two DeHavilland DHC6-300 Twin Otter aircraft to Guernsey based Aurigny Air Services for flights from Alderney

Skybus will be adding two additional DH6-300 Twin Otters to its fleet in order to service the contract which begins on the 1st November.

The aircraft will operate in Aurigny Air Services colours and will operate flights from Alderney to Guernsey and Southampton, routes that Aurigny has served since 1968.

Jonathan Hinkles, Managing Director of Skybus, said: “We’re delighted to be announcing this new long-term contract today.  The new arrangement will bring together nearly 100 years’ experience of island air services in Aurigny and Skybus to deliver for the Alderney community and at the same time, strengthen our existing long-standing business in the Isles of Scilly.”

It is hoped that the new contract will help Skybus make further investments in its operation from the Isles of Scilly and help the Isles of Scilly Steamship Group’s aviation division make a return to profit.
