The pilot of the Hawker Hunter which crashed at the Shoreham airshow killing 11 people has appeared in court to face 11 charges of manslaughter this morning.

Andrew Hill (54) of Sandon, Hertfordshire appeared at Westminster Magistrates court following the decision last month by the Crown Prosecution Service to charge him with the offences.

Mr Hill indicated he would plead not guilty at the hearing before being bailed to appear at the Old Bailey on the 17th May.

Crown Prosecutor Simon Ringrose confirmed the charges to the court along with the circumstances surrounding the crash which happened when the Hawker Hunter crashed into traffic on the dual carriageway after it failed to complete an aerobatic manoeuvre.

11 people, all men, were killed on the ground but Mr Hill was ejected from the aircraft during the crash suffering serious injuries.

Mr Hill also faces one count of endangering an aircraft.
