South Korean flag carrier, Korean Air, has become the latest airline to order the still in development freighter variant of the Airbus A350.

Korean Air converted seven of its A350-1000 orders to the A350F as it looks to renew its cargo fleet with aircraft that will meet ICAO’s enhanced emissions standards. In total, the airline has 33 A350s on order.

Korean Air is one of the world’s largest cargo operators,” said Benoît de Saint-Exupéry, Airbus EVP Sales of the Commercial Aircraft business. “The decision to add the A350F to its fleet is therefore a very significant endorsement of the aircraft’s unique capabilities. The A350F will bring Korean Air the most efficient solution in the large freighter segment.”

The Airbus A350F features the largest main cargo loading door of any dedicated freighter and is capable of carrying 111 tonnes of freight up to 4,700 nautical miles.

Compared to current freighters, the A350F will reduce carbon emissions by up to 40%.
