IndiaOne Air has taken a major step in its fleet expansion plans after signing a Letter of Intent to acquire up to ten De Havilland Canada Twin Otter Series 300-G aircraft. The announcement was made at the 2025 Dubai Airshow, signalling fresh momentum for the regional airline and strengthening De Havilland Canada’s footprint in one of the world’s fastest-growing aviation markets.

The new aircraft will support IndiaOne Air’s ongoing mission to improve connectivity across India’s remote and underserved regions. The Twin Otter 300-G – the latest evolution of the storied Twin Otter family – is known for its rugged design, short take-off and landing capabilities, and ability to operate in areas with minimal airport infrastructure. Its performance profile makes it particularly suited to IndiaOne Air’s regional routes, many of which involve short runways and hard-to-access communities.

Wg Cdr Prem Kumar Garg (Retd), Chief Executive Officer of IndiaOne Air, said the decision aligns perfectly with the airline’s long-term vision. “The Twin Otter 300-G is the most suitable aircraft for IndiaOne Air as we intend to expand our operations to more regional destinations having smaller runway lengths. Its performance, reliability, and versatility align perfectly with our mission of connecting the unconnected and bringing air travel accessibility to every corner of India.”

Promoters and Directors Himanshu Shah and Shaishav Shah added that the acquisition reinforces the airline’s commitment to operational quality and the Indian government’s UDAN regional connectivity scheme, aimed at ensuring equitable access to air travel across the country.

For De Havilland Canada, the deal marks a significant endorsement of its newest Twin Otter variant. Ryan DeBrusk, Vice President of Sales and Marketing, said: “Their selection of the Twin Otter 300-G underscores the aircraft’s proven performance and suitability for challenging environments around the world. We look forward to supporting IndiaOne Air as they expand their network and connect more communities across India.”

The 300-G introduces improvements in efficiency, advanced avionics, and enhanced passenger comfort while maintaining the durability and flexibility that have made the Twin Otter a global workhorse. More than 5,000 De Havilland Canada aircraft are currently in service worldwide across commercial, firefighting, medevac, surveillance and search-and-rescue operations.

With India’s regional aviation sector continuing to accelerate, the agreement marks a meaningful alignment of ambitions: a growing airline seeking to reach deeper into the country’s heartlands, and a Canadian manufacturer positioning its latest platform to meet rising demand for rugged, dependable regional aircraft.
