Emirates orders 65 more Boeing 777X

Dubai-based Emirates has ordered 65 additional Boeing 777X aircraft from Seattle-based OEM, Boeing at the Dubai Airshow.

The order is for the 777-9, which is currently the only passenger variant, and brings the total number of commitments for the type by the launch customer to 270.

Emirates is already the world’s largest operator of the Boeing 777 and HH Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, chairman and chief executive, Emirates Airline and Group said this was “a long-term commitment to our partnership with Boeing and to U.S. aerospace.” adding “Each of our aircraft on order have been carefully factored into Emirates’ growth plan, which is aligned to Dubai’s growth plans,”

Boeing’s 777-9 will be the world’s largest twin-engine jet when it enters service and set Boeing says it will set new standards in efficiency and passenger experience.

Operates will see a fuel use and emissions reduction of 20% compared to the airplanes it replaces and passengers will travel comfortably with a wider, more spacious cabin, better humidity levels, a smoother ride and more natural light.
